Joan Thompson

Joan Thompson - Director of the Margaret Street Practice

Joan Thompson is a BPA (British Psychoanalytic Association) trained Psychoanalyst and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, with many years' experience, working with adults in private practice in London.

Joan works with both individuals and couples. Joan also supervisor’s clinicians working with Eating Disorders and has extensive experience working with Eating Disorders and other addictions, namely Gambling. She runs Eating Disorder and Gambling addiction groups. She also works with depression, anxiety and relationship and emotional difficulties in adults.

Joan is interested in the area of film and psychoanalysis and is currently the Joint Film Editor of the IJP - International Journal of Psychoanalysis. She founded the BPA Film Society in 2011 and organises regular films screenings and Q&A’s between directors and psychoanalysts in London.

Joan is a BPA Board Member - Chair of Outreach, and previous Editor of the BPA Bulletin.

Tessa Ettedgui

Tessa EttedguiTessa Ettedgui is an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. She trained at The Minster Centre and is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She holds an advanced diploma and MA in integrative psychotherapy and is registered and accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Her background in education has given her a particular interest in working with young adults, although she has experience in working with a range of clients of different ages, sexualities, linguistic and cultural backgrounds. She has worked in the NHS as well as in private practice and is fluent in French and proficient in Spanish and BSL. Elli Josephs

Elli Josephs Elli Josephs is a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults in private practice and in the NHS. Having trained at the Tavistock Centre, she is registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and is a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists. She has held psychotherapy positions in two London NHS trusts and has extensive experience of the creative and media industries as well as in voluntary sector family support services, where she led on perinatal mental health. Sally King

Sally KingSally King trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist at WPF Therapy, and is a member of the BACP, UKCP & FPC. Before training as a psychotherapist, Sally worked in the voluntary sector for several years supporting victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence and has also worked for the NHS in an outpatient clinic for critical care patients and their families. Sally works with adults offering open ended psychotherapy as well as time limited therapy (up to 12 sessions). Tom Morgan

Tom MorganTom Morgan is a counsellor, therapist and coach, working in psychodynamic and person-centred modalities. He has 5 years experience with NHS CNWL at the Soho Centre and the Gordon Hospital delivering treatment for adults in once-weekly or twice-weekly sessions and is currently in private practice exclusively at 39 Margaret Street. He holds an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from UCL Birkbeck and is a registered member of the BACP. Priscilla Osborne

Priscilla OsbornePriscilla Osborne is a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with individuals in private practice at the Margaret Street Practice.  She trained at WPF Therapy and is qualified to work with clients both once and twice weekly. In addition to practising on-going psychotherapy, Priscilla has experience in time-limited therapy (up to twelve sessions).  She is a qualified Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) practitioner, currently doing an NHS placement in this modality. Emma Osler

Emma OslerEmma Osler is a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults in private practice and in the NHS. Dr Peter Slater

Peter SlaterPeter Slater is a Tavistock Clinic trained child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist and is also an adult psychodynamic psychotherapist having trained at University of Westminster. He works in private practice in Central London and is Course Lead and Lecturer for the Tavistock Clinic’s Introduction to counselling and Psychotherapy Programme.
He is a full member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) and the British Association of Counselling (BACP). Since 2008 he has worked in private practice with adults, children, adolescents, parents families and couples. He has worked in NHS CAMHS settings for 11 years and has extensive experience of working with depression, anxiety, self harm, complex trauma, gender dysphoria, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, sleep, eating and emotional difficulties in young children.
Peter has published papers in the Journal of Child Psychotherapy and the New Zealand Journal of Psychotherapy. He offers consultations to Social Care and schools as well as offering clinical supervision to psychotherapists and psychiatrists undertaking psychotherapy work. He is a consultant and contributor to a Lighthouse Nation, Chinese TV production on the role of effective parenting in supporting early child development.

Frances Field

Frances StedmanFrances is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and counsellor who has over 20 years’ experience of working with individuals in community settings and private practice. She offers a safe and confidential environment where individuals can express themselves freely without fear of judgment. She is LGBTQIA-plus affirming and has a particular interest in issues surrounding sexuality and gender, and that of spirituality, accommodating individuals with various religious beliefs as well as those who have none. Her extensive experience also includes working with clients facing anxiety, depression and bereavement, as well as exploring the effects of these challenges on relationships. Frances works in private practice at Margaret Street Practice and The Guild of Psychotherapists near London Bridge. She began her training at Birkbeck University and further honed her skills at the prestigious Guild of Psychotherapists in London, a leading institution for psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the UK, where she completed their rigorous four-year taught course. She currently acts as a trustee for the Guild of Psychotherapists as well as an honorary psychotherapist. Mayessi Svoronou

Maranda Yee Tak Sze

Maranda SzeMaranda Yee Tak Sze, PhD is an adult psychoanalyst trained at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. She also trained at the Institute and the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research as a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with parents and their infants, children and adolescents. She is a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKPC), an individual member of British Association for Counselling abd Psychotherapy (BACP), a member of the Guild of Psychotherapists in the UK and of the American Psychoanalytic Association. Maya Zvigi Cohen

Maya Zvigi Cohen is a psychoanalytic counsellor and a clinical supervisor with many years of experience, working in private practice. She holds an advanced diploma and an MA in psychoanalytic studies from the Tavistock Clinic and is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Much of her experience was gained through roles as a counsellor and head of service at the Royal College of Art, Cambridge University and Goldsmiths College.
